Kumul Export Terminal Regeneration

Client
Oil Search

Location
Papua New Guinea

Contract Period
March 2011 - December 2013

Scope

Oil Search Limited (OSL) extended the life of its offshore oil terminal, the Kumul Marine Terminal, located 40 kilometres offshore in the Gulf of Papua. The life extension was driven by the requirements of the PNG LNG Project which utilised the Terminal Facility to export condensate liquids from the LNG Process.

Clough Wood was contracted to plan and execute the offshore construction phase of the project, based on deliverables provided by OSL’s Project Management Team and Design Contractors.

The work included planning, scheduling and developing workpacks and material management from multiple locations in Australia and SE Asia, along with the recruitment and management of a multinational workforce to execute the offshore construction work.

The offshore life extension was executed against a requirement to maintain the current offtake / export schedule which had a nominal 19-day cycle between load / offtake starts and involved managing simultaneous operations to facilitate the uninterrupted ability to load tankers.
